A Gender Harassment Committee (commonly referred to as the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the POSH Act, 2013 in India) is established in educational institutions and workplaces to prevent and address issues related to sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination.

  1. Objective - To create and maintain a safe, respectful, and gender-sensitive environment by preventing and addressing sexual harassment and any form of gender-based misconduct.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prevent gender-based discrimination and harassment in the institution.
  • Address complaints of sexual harassment with confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Organize awareness campaigns, workshops, and gender-sensitization programs.
  • Ensure fair inquiry, redressal, and disciplinary actions as per the POSH Act.
  • Maintain proper documentation and submit annual reports to the relevant authority.
